It
is widely accepted that electric
motors waste a large part of the current
energy drawn. Start-up loads are much higher
than operating loads, motors with higher than
required ratings, are installed for most
application, thus presenting an opportunity to
save expensive electrical energy, when
motors operate at part loads.
Frank Nola of NASA first design and patented a
micro controller in 1982 to successfully save
energy, which has been constantly improved
over the years with the availability of
advanced computronics.
HOW IT WORKS :
The MAGNATRON detects
the lag between the voltage and current
waveforms , and using this lag as a reference
point , its proprietary algorithm sends a
firing impulse to the SCR to reduce/increase
voltage and current to match the
electricity supply exactly to demand torque
load, this close loop cyclical exercise is
repeated 50 times /second.
